Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
Set in the late Regency England
The Original Story
At the age of 17, Catherine Morland steps into a whirlwind of social adventures that introduce her to a world beyond her wildest dreams.
With an imagination fueled by the Gothic novels she adores, Catherine finds herself swept off her feet by the charming Henry Tilney and soon receives an invitation to his mysterious family home, Northanger Abbey. Amidst the shadows of the Abbey, Catherine's vivid imagination conjures tales of intrigue and danger, leading her to misinterpret the world around her. When reality clashes with her fantasies, Catherine is forced to leave the Abbey, but not without gaining invaluable insights.
"Northanger Abbey" playfully critiques the Gothic novel genre while weaving a story of love, social class, and the journey to understand the line between imagination and reality. This story invites readers to explore how our perceptions can shape our experiences and teaches the importance of personal growth and self-awareness.
Our Take on the original
