Company Dinner

This episode is about the work culture in Korea.

In Korea, it is common for companies to eat and drink together after work. This is called β€œhweshik”. Company dinners are to build better relationships in a team or company.Β

There are a few reasons why companies have a hweshik:Β

  1. When employees join the company

  2. When employees leave the companyΒ

  3. When a project is finishedΒ

These company dinners are planned by staff and usually, all staff attend. The restaurant is usually an expensive one. The food is very delicious. Sometimes, there are rounds. The first round is the dinner and drinks. The second round can be desserts, singing rooms, or more drinks. There can be more rounds but it depends on who wants to attend.Β
